Tourism: More than 10,000 European hoteliers launch legal action against the Booking platform

Last June, the French Fraud Control Authority (DGCCRF) had already noted "restrictive competition practices" on the part of Booking and asked the platform to comply by December 31. According to the DGCCRF, Booking prevents hotels from offering better prices on other booking platforms or even on their own websites.
Véronique Siegel, president of the hotel branch of Umih (Union of Hotel Trades and Industries), estimates that "for a room that the customer will pay 100 euros for, if we remove the Booking commission, the hotelier receives 75 euros in the best case scenario." And therefore with the constraint of not offering more competitive prices elsewhere.
The HCAF foundation is offering establishments that have not yet done so the opportunity to join the collective action by registering a complaint on its dedicated website .
