Shortening chopsticks to prevent waste: other alternatives

Six baguettes per person per year are thrown away, according to a study by the Too Good To Go app, released Tuesday, May 13. However, there are many solutions that could reduce this figure without changing the baguette recipe.
Whether crispy, golden, or not overcooked, it remains a favorite in the hearts of the French. A beloved baguette, yet one that's too often wasted. According to a study by the anti-waste app Too Good To Go, six out of ten French people would throw away stale bread. So, to avoid this waste, should our baguettes be shortened? Today, the custom is for them to measure between 55 and 65 centimeters and weigh between 200 and 300 grams.
In Paris, for Gary Kurtz, the owner of the Chamboule bakery, there's no question of lightening the baguette. He's revisited the half-baguette. " We're offering a half-baguette with a more conventional format that resembles a traditional baguette, with two croutons. That pleases most people, " says the baker. Each baguette thrown away represents 155 liters of wasted water, the equivalent of a bathtub.
