September 10: Why the CGT and FO remain cautious

The next eight days will be decisive in determining the contours of the mobilization against the Bayrou budget. On August 26 and 27, the CGT (General Confederation of Trade Unions) is holding a meeting of its national confederal committee (CCN). Regarding the "Block Everything" initiative of September 10, Sophie Binet was cautious about a call that she considered "nebulous" with a risk of "infiltration by the extreme right." Not to be outdone, on France Inter, the general secretary of the CGT believes that "the time has come for mobilization" to defeat a government that has "never been so weak."
In the Tribune on Sunday , Frédéric Souillot assures that "(his) base is very angry" and presents the elimination of two public holidays and the reform of unemployment insurance as "red rags" . The general secretary of Force Ouvrière, however, dismisses the idea of a mobilization on September 10.
While an inter-union meeting, planned for September 1st , could lead to a social movement in the fall, Astrid Panosyan-Bouvet is consulting with unions and employers starting this August 25th. The following day, the Minister of Labor is the guest of the CFDT summer universities, during which Prime Minister François Bayrou is scheduled to speak. The left-wing parties have shown their support for the initiative during the various summer universities, like the PCF and the Ecologists, joined by Olivier Faure, who stated on Friday August 22nd that the PS will have to "support" the movement. LFI and its leader Jean-Luc Mélenchon have called for a general strike on September 10th.
The "block everything" movement, which appeared on social media, calls for the country to be paralyzed in opposition to the austerity measures presented by François Bayrou on July 15, and the announcement of the elimination of two public holidays.
Social emergency is humanity 's priority every day.
- By exposing boss violence.
- By showing what those who work and those who aspire to do so experience.
- By giving employees the keys to understanding and the tools to defend themselves against ultra-liberal policies that degrade their quality of life.
