Pensions paid earlier in August? Here are the reasons and all the dates

It's a schedule French retirees are familiar with: they're used to receiving their pension on fixed dates each month. But there are a few exceptions, and August 2025 is one of them. Depending on your pension plan, you may see your pension paid earlier or later than usual.
For the approximately 14 million retirees in the Agirc-Arrco supplementary pension scheme, there's no change on the horizon. As usual, their pensions were transferred on August 1st, the traditional payment date for this scheme at the beginning of each month.
On the other hand, the more than 17 million insured persons in the general retirement insurance scheme have seen or will see a change in their pension in the coming days. It was paid to them one day early! The rule specified on the official website lassuranceretraite.fr is very clear: "We pay your pension to your bank on the 9th of each month. If the 9th falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or public holiday, we pay it on the first working day before or after."

Usually paid on the 9th of each month, retirees received their pension as early as Friday, August 8th, as the 9th fell on a Saturday this August. This date also applies to retirees of the Mutualité sociale agricole (MSA). Haven't received your pension? Don't panic, the actual transfer time to your bank account depends on your financial institution. There may therefore be a delay of a few days before the amount appears in your account, probably on Monday, August 11th.
A notable exception concerns retirees dependent on the Carsat d'Alsace-Moselle. Unlike other members of the general scheme, their basic pension was paid as of August 1st and will cover the month of August, not July. For civil service retirees, the schedule differs, with payments scheduled for the end of the month. For example, former territorial and hospital employees affiliated with the CNRACL will receive their pension on August 27th. State retirees, however, will have to wait one more day, until August 28th.
As you can see, the payment of retirement pensions in August can hold some surprises depending on your affiliation scheme. While the date remains unchanged for Agirc-Arrco retirees, those under the general scheme have seen their pension paid a day early. Retirees in Alsace-Moselle are an exception, with payments starting on August 1st. Finally, former civil servants will have to wait until the end of the month. In the future, remember to check your pension fund's specific calendar to avoid any confusion. This calendar can be downloaded directly from the retirement insurance website .
