By SudOuest.fr
Around ten firefighters were mobilized to control the fire, which broke out early in the evening on Tuesday, July 1, in the commune of Laplume.
The operation aimed to prevent any risk of the fire spreading to the surrounding area. On Tuesday, July 1st, shortly after 8 p.m., firefighters arrived in the commune of Laplume to extinguish a fire in a pile of wood, with a volume of approximately 4,000 m³, which was completely engulfed in flames upon their arrival.
The dense plume of smoke, visible for several kilometers, indicated advanced combustion, according to firefighters.
In addition to the fire extinguishing operation, increased night surveillance has been put in place to ensure the premises are completely secure, given that the fire risk is very high.
