Le Lavandou: tourist season compromised?

Residents of Le Lavandou continue to clean the streets and their homes, which were engulfed in mud after the torrential rains of Tuesday, May 20. This rare phenomenon is causing concern as the tourist season approaches.
A private tourist beach is closed to swimming for three weeks while the wastewater treatment plant is being restored. In a neighborhood of Lavandou (New window) , we are far from the usual spring atmosphere, the torrential rains of two days ago affected most of the businesses. In this restaurant, the cellar, the stocks, the equipment, everything was flooded. "I've been here for 30 years, I've seen violent storms, but this... Never." laments Antonio Frassanito, the manager of a restaurant. Although he knows he won't be able to reopen during the next two weeks, the restaurateur still has hope that the season will restart.
Reopening as quickly as possible is the shared goal of all the affected businesses. Outside a beach and clothing store, volunteers are busy sorting through everything, but inside, the damage is considerable. At a seaside hotel, the swimming pool and parking lot are completely destroyed. Further up, several campsites have been almost completely destroyed. For the mayor of Lavandoux, the summer season is not compromised.
