Donations to associations: towards a reduction in tax exemption

Should donations to charities be tax-exempt? That's the conclusion of a report led by the French Inspectorate General of Finance and the Inspectorate General of Education, Sport, and Research, submitted to the government in May. The information was revealed Thursday by Le Parisien. This work, commissioned by Michel Barnier in late 2024, just before the fall of his government, highlights an explosive cost for the state: €49 billion in public funds paid to the non-profit sector in 2023, a 44% increase in four years.
