Chassal-Molinges: Billionaire Pierre-Édouard Stérin withdraws, a Chinese group eyes Eurostyle

We remember the palpable anxiety among the union representatives of the 15 French factories of the automotive equipment manufacturer GMD, faced with the possibility of a takeover of the group by the billionaire Pierre-Édouard Stérin .
"The lack of visibility and transparency on the terms of the sale and future plans" was denounced as far away as Jura , in Chassal-Molinges, where the Eurostyle systems company is located.
Finally, the investment fund Montyon Capital, owned by the businessman whose far-right political ambitions are no secret , abruptly withdrew its offer at the end of April 2025.
According to an article in L'Usine nouvelle , Alain Martineau, historical president of GMD, announced "on Wednesday, May 14, its 100% sale to a Chinese company, Suzhou dongshan precision manufacturing co. Known by the acronym DSBJ, the group began its activities in 1980 in sheet metal and stamping before diversifying into printed circuits, claiming today to be the second largest manufacturer of flexible printed circuit boards."
According to our information, the 15 French entities of the heavily indebted automotive subcontractor are currently being audited. Our colleagues at La Nouvelle République reported at the end of June that "the acquisition of GMD [...] will only be effective following administrative validation by the French, German, Moroccan, and European authorities. A deadline set for the second half of September. [...] The only certainty: an agreement provides for the maintenance of all jobs for one year, then up to 80% for the second year."
In Chassal-Molinges, people remain cautious and are even waiting until the end of October to learn more about the industrial projects of this Chinese buyer.
