The threat, which has been looming for several weeks , is becoming more precise. The furniture store chain Casa France, which employs nearly 700 people in France, is heading towards compulsory liquidation, it announced on Wednesday, June 11. Indeed, "in light of the criteria required by law," the takeover bids examined by the Bobigny Commercial Court should be "inadmissible," declared Casa France, whose directors have requested the liquidation. The court will deliver its decision on June 27.
Casa France employs 577 people on permanent contracts and around 100 on fixed-term contracts. The company announced at the end of March that it was filing for receivership. "Casa France's situation is a direct result of the liquidation of Casa International in Belgium, which historically handled the central functions of the international group, including logistics and IT, which were essential to the operation of the business in France ," Casa explained on Wednesday. "Its liquidation in March 2025, due to the lack of a buyer, led to the abrupt cessation of the operational organization of the subsidiaries in Europe."
To this "exogenous shock", of which Casa France "is not the origin, and independent of its management" , were added "structural difficulties already present on a weakened national market" , notably by "the unfavorable economic situation of the real estate sector" on which those of "furniture and decoration" depend. The Casa chain, created in 1975, is present in eight European countries, with a network of 500 stores. The group has more than 2,230 employees.
Update: at 7:46 p.m., with the reformulation concerning the compulsory liquidation, which is probable and not yet confirmed, following an error by Casa France.
