The Tarn prefect has banned all gatherings of opponents of the A69 due to the risk of public order disturbances.
The Tarn prefect announced on Tuesday that he had banned by decree any gathering of opponents of the A69 motorway in anticipation of the new mobilisation planned against the contested project of a link between Toulouse and Castres , on the grounds that previous demonstrations had given rise to "serious and repeated violence".
"In view of [...] the clear risks of serious public order disturbances, the Tarn prefect has issued a prefectural decree prohibiting all gatherings in the 17 Tarn municipalities along the A69 motorway route from 8 a.m. on Thursday, July 3 until 8 p.m. on Monday, July 7," the text published Tuesday evening states. Several thousand people are expected from Friday to Sunday in an effort to "bury" the 53-km motorway project.
