DECRYPTION - The General Information Press Alliance is creating a commission dedicated to overseas titles, addressing the critical economic situation, to alert public authorities. Several titles have disappeared in recent years.
A response to the emergency. The overseas daily newspaper publishers of the Alliance de la presse d'information générale (Apig) have announced the creation of a dedicated commission to support access to information in these territories. "Overseas newspapers are experiencing an extremely degraded situation," warns Béatrice Cléon, general director of the France-Antilles group. The director has joined forces with Henri Nijdam, general director of the Quotidien de la Réunion , to carry out this initiative.
The commission will initially bring together five paid daily newspapers from the Antilles, Réunion , and New Caledonia. "The goal is to bring together titles with common issues in order to speak with one voice to public authorities and share a number of best industrial practices," explains Béatrice Cléon.
