What to do in Lyon this weekend? Top tips from September 19 to 21

Heritage Days, Dance Biennale, festival, flea market... Lyon Capitale has selected for you the activities not to be missed for the weekend of September 19 to 21.

What if this weekend was an opportunity to explore new places? To mark European Heritage Days, many sites will be open to the public this weekend. Among the unusual tours to note: the Lyon Opera House, the street art tunnel located between the Saint-Paul and Saint-Joseph prisons, and the L'Oréal group's Skin Technology platform. While all tours are free, be sure to book in advance to ensure you get a spot.

The weekend's second major event: the World Banners Festival. A show will be held on Saturday, September 20, alongside the Dance Biennale. The festivities will begin at 11 a.m. at Place du Maréchal Lyautey (6th arrondissement), where a community village will showcase crafts, traditional clothing, cultural objects, games, music, and flavors from around the world. The parade will start at 2:30 p.m. at the corner of Cours Franklin Roosevelt and Rue Garibaldi, with an expected arrival near the community village. The day will conclude with a show of folk dances, polyphonic singing, percussion, and performing arts at 4 p.m.

Last week's tupiniers give way to the Vieux-Lyon flea market this weekend. On Saturday, September 20, around fifty professional exhibitors will be exhibiting for sale on Place Saint-Jean (5th arrondissement). Postcards, antique furniture, art... a multitude of objects from different regions will be on display from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

What if this weekend was the time to get a tattoo? From September 19th to 21st , "The Ink Factory" tattoo show will be held at the Halle Tony Garnier in Lyon. A total of 350 tattoo artists will gather to offer artistic performances and activities. Several competitions will be held for the occasion.

The final event selected for this weekend is the "Musical Harvest": a pop, rock, and electro festival, held at the Château de Charnay in Beaujolais. From Thursday, September 18th to Saturday, September 20th, established and emerging artists will perform in the heart of the Pierres Dorées village. Among the headliners: Emma Peters, Synapson, and Boulevard des Airs.
