Metz: Classical music, hip-hop, and breakdancing put on a show at the conservatory

A huge mirror. A grand piano. A large rehearsal room. Notes float in the air. We are at the Metz Metropolitan Conservatory. For once, the thirty artists rehearsing on the black carpet are not classical, jazz, or contemporary dancers. They specialize in hip-hop and breakdancing. Today, the large room is reserved for them. For most of them, this is the first time they have entered a conservatory.
A creative challenge"There's a strong desire to bring hip-hop into conservatories," says Leslie Kaci, piano teacher and artistic director of East Phare, who wants to "promote cultural and social diversity."
