Classical Concert: Mahler vs. Mahler

A “clash of the titans”, which will miss the German composer’s Symphony No. 1 (nicknamed Titan ), but which will put Mahler’s 4th and 6th into perspective.
On our left, the Lyon Opera Orchestra for the 4th under the direction of Jader Bignamini, on our right the Lyon National Orchestra in the 6th (nicknamed Tragique ) and Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider at the baton.
A little less than an hour for the 4th , an hour and a half for the 6th : proportions clearly to the advantage of the ONL if we favor generosity but a supplement to the program on the Opera side with the Siegfried Idyll by Richard Wagner which puts the ball back in the center.
Beyond such a coincidence of the calendar and despite this artificial hype attributable to some playful editorial staff, there is no doubt that this double event will delight lovers of great symphonic frescoes.
