Storms and floods: eight departments on orange alert Saturday

Météo-France placed Calvados and Manche on orange alert on Saturday morning, July 19, for the risk of rain and flooding, as well as six departments in the Centre-East for the risk of thunderstorms.
A "ending" episode of thunderstorms is hitting Brittany and Normandy, "where the storms will affect the Channel and Calvados for a few more hours," explains the meteorological service in its bulletin published at 6 a.m.
The prolonged end of the episode is expected at "8 a.m." for Calvados and the English Channel. It is "slowly shifting towards the northeast," Météo-France specifies.
"Under this axis, fairly widespread accumulations of around 15 mm to 30 mm occur."
Ille-et-Vilaine downgraded to yellowIlle-et-Vilaine, placed on orange alert for rain and flooding the day before, has been downgraded to yellow alert.
In the Centre-East, the stormy rain episode is considered by the organization as "active" .
Six departments in the Centre-East (Ain, Allier, Isère, Loire, Puy-de-Dôme, Rhône) are also under orange alert for thunderstorms from 6 a.m. on Saturday.
