Social Fraud: How a Taxi Driver from Var Swindled 2.3 Million Euros from Social Security

STORY - For five years, a business leader from Var fraudulently pocketed health insurance reimbursements, used in particular to finance a gym and an apartment for her daughter. She is being tried this Tuesday.
The scheme was almost perfect. For nearly five years, between 2019 and 2024, a Var taxi driver allegedly embezzled more than €2.3 million by declaring false medical transports - these transfers to or from healthcare establishments, provided by an approved taxi or ambulance and covered by health insurance in certain cases - to social security. The 52-year-old business leader appears before the Draguignan court this Tuesday, February 25 for fraud and laundering of the proceeds of fraud. The Justice will have to look into the scheme of the entrepreneur, who allegedly used the money thus embezzled to buy an apartment, vehicles and even invest in a gym.
