Morocco: Country in shock after 13-year-old boy drugged and raped in tent by 14 men during traditional festival
In early August, Bashir, a 13-year-old Moroccan boy, was allegedly raped by fourteen men during a party in the town of Moulay Abdellah Amghar. The case sparked a public outcry and reignited debate about sexual assault in the kingdom.
Orphaned by his father, the boy was accompanied by his disabled mother. Bashir therefore had to fend for himself to earn money. Usually, he performed small services like helping cars park or selling bags. Given the importance of the occasion, he decided to go there to try to bring in some money.
Once there, more than a dozen men allegedly drugged and raped him in a tent. On social media, a hashtag #AllForBashir began to emerge in support.
