If you use a microwave, this is the one item you should never put in it.

The microwave became a great choice.

Microwaves are one of the most frequently used household appliances due to their convenience and speed when heating and cooking food . In addition, they are easy to use, with simple controls and pre-programmed functions.
Despite this, there is one thing that shouldn't go unnoticed: there are certain items that shouldn't be put inside this appliance, as they can burn or otherwise impair its operation. This includes metal containers, aluminum molds, glass cups, and plastic containers.
In the latter case, although there are some containers marketed as microwave-safe, some experts recommend avoiding heating food in containers made of this material.
In a recent interview, Dr. Shanna Swan, an American environmental and reproductive epidemiologist, explained that it's not advisable to use plastic in these appliances because the components they're made with can affect food.

"BPA, phthalates, and plasticizers are added to plastic, but they're not chemically bonded to it. So, if you put something in a container containing these chemicals and then place it in a warm environment, they'll leach out of the plastic and into the food," the expert noted.
Swan also pointed out that this doesn't just apply to microwaves. The same process can occur if a bottle is left in the sun in the car , as the substances will end up in the water.
"You don't want to mix your chemicals with the food; the worst thing is to do it with heat," he said.
