Valjent cuts Sevilla's wings and gives Mallorca some breathing room in the fight for Europe

A serious error by goalkeeper Nyland, which allowed Valjent to finish in the 91st minute , cut Sevilla's wings, which came close to a victory that would bring it closer to the European race and had to settle for a draw, just after what happened in Nervión. Sevilla was superior in the first half, although it fell apart in the final stretch of the match, when Mallorca, revived by the changes, especially that of Robert Navarro, laid siege to the home goal until achieving the equaliser in extra time. The Balearic team deserved the draw.

Jagoba Arrasate's anger was justified. An old dog, he knew that Mascarell's foul in the last play of the first half could have negative consequences for his team. And so it was. Mallorca defended the set piece very poorly and, after two rebounds, the ball reached Kike Salas , who scored on the volley. While his alleged involvement in a possible fraud for illegal betting is resolved, the youth team defender scored his first goal of the season.
It was the key play of a very even first half, where Sevilla played its cards better against a very defensive Mallorca. The Andalusians struggle to play football, but they find shortcuts. In a subtle backheel from Saúl that Salas hit in the face of Mascarell, who saved the goal, or in the numerous forays down the left flank by Vargas, very well supported by Pedrosa. Also in some incursions by Lukébakio with his wrong foot. Mallorca, with a five-man defence , without depth or speed, defended more or less well, until the defensive error and the goal by Salas.
Sevilla kept control of the match. They lacked a certain quality in their finishing to close out a match that they controlled, something that they did not achieve due to their inability to make the final pass and finish. Vargas and Saúl tried, without success. Isaac too, very alone against so much defense. The second goal did not come, but Mallorca reacted. Robert Navarro had two clear scoring opportunities after two errors in defense by the home team. Sevilla languished, with Arrasate making changes and Pimienta impassive.
Mallorca came close to equalising again after a cross from Mojica that Larin narrowly missed. Sevilla, nervous and tired, were unable to control the ball, outplayed in the final stretch by the Balearic team. In the 91st minute, another centre-back, like Valjent, scored the equaliser after a mistake by Nyland, who went wrong after a cross into the area by the dangerous Robert Navarro. The goalkeeper called for a foul on Larin, but there was none. Sevilla, who had 19 shots on Greif's goal , wasted a great chance to achieve their second consecutive victory for the first time in the League. The point boosts Mallorca's European hopes, which knew how to react in the second half.
