Pumas, ready to debut

Pumas, ready to debut

Los Pumas closed out their preseason by responding to their fans, who threw an incredible party at the Estadio Olímpico Universitario, with a resounding 2-0 victory over Leganés of the Spanish Second Division.

In the presentation of their new uniforms, Guillermo Martínez (6') and Nathan Silva (59') were in charge of the scores against the pepineros.

This match also served as an introduction to the fans for Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey, who watched from the bench because he is not yet physically fit to make his debut with the felines.

"I'm fine, I'm still in the final stages of my rehab. It might take a few more weeks, so we'll see. Hopefully, I'm not going to be able to play the first few games, obviously, but after that, we hope to be back on the court," Ramsey said in an interview.

"I think the World Cup was a small part of my decision to join Pumas, but ultimately it's about focusing on my new club. The other issue will resolve itself later," he added.

He will return to Spain

Although the start of the 2025 Liga MX Apertura Tournament is just around the corner, the Pumas still don't have a definitive roster.

Yesterday, during the first team presentation, the absence of Alex Padilla, who was the starting goalkeeper last semester, was particularly striking.

The Mexican goalkeeper, also a Spanish national, did not appear on the field with his teammates, who will be part of Efraín Juárez's squad for the next tournament.

The Mexican international is also expected to leave the team to return to Athletic Bilbao, the club to which he currently holds a contract. The Basque team needs its goalkeeper back given the imminent departure of Julen Agirrezabala.

After the arrival of Aaron Ramsey, the Pumas are now reportedly eyeing another luxury reinforcement.

It has been reported that the university students are reportedly looking for Keylor Navas, a goalkeeper who has won multiple Champions League titles with Real Madrid and who also plays for Paris Saint-Germain.

New celestial reinforcement

Cruz Azul's transfer market continues to move.

After finalizing the transfer of midfielder José Paradela from Necaxa, the Blues' board has reportedly reached an agreement with Atlas for the acquisition of Jéremy Márquez.

Just when it seemed like the talks would stall, everything suddenly changed: an agreement was reached, and Márquez would arrive as a reinforcement for the Machine.

The transfer is final, and Cruz Azul is expected to pay between $4.5 and $5 million.

Márquez had been on Cruz Azul's roster for at least one tournament, and for the 2025 Apertura transfer market, there were talks, but no agreements, so everything seemed to be cooling off.

The midfielder is expected to sign a four-year contract with the Máquina, and if this happens, he will be a key player in the plans of Nicolás Larcamón, the new Blues coach, for the upcoming tournament.

Extends his contract

Midfielder Jonathan dos Santos will continue with América.

The younger of the Dos Santos brothers agreed to a one-year contract extension with the Azulcrema team after a tournament in which he wasn't as significant after having been an undisputed starter during the semester of their third consecutive title.

So far, América hasn't had much movement in the transfer market. After the departures of Javairo and Diego Valdés, the Águilas announced the arrivals of Alexis Gutiérrez (Cruz Azul) and Isaías Violante (Toluca), although more reinforcements are expected to arrive, especially on the offensive side.

Changes in goal

Mazatlán is looking for a new goalkeeper after the departure of American youth player Hugo González.

Given this situation, the Gunners have limited time to find a new goalkeeper and are reportedly targeting 25-year-old André Alcaraz, born in France to Mexican parents, who holds dual nationality.

Alcaraz currently plays in Europe with Rangers Andorra, a team whose president is Marco Fabián.

He trained at Chivas, playing for Tapatío, Alebrijes and Venados in the Liga de Expansión MX.

Hugo González will be Toluca's new goalkeeper.

The goalkeeper will reunite with coach Antonio Mohamed, who managed him at América and later brought him to Monterrey.

González's arrival will cover for the absence of Spaniard Pau López, who was not to the liking of "Turco" Mohamed and will no longer be with the Liga MX champions.
