Official: President Ramón Jesurún will be in charge of Dimayor after Fernando Jaramillo leaves

The presidents of the 36 Colombian professional football teams met this Tuesday in Bogotá in an extraordinary assembly to discuss the departure of President Fernando Jaramillo from his post, after he submitted his resignation a few weeks ago.

Jaramillo is leaving Dimayor after almost 5 years in office. The manager stepped aside, claiming that he wants to rest and spend time with his family. This Tuesday he presented his balance sheet on television rights and the growth of the Betplay League.

At the supposed request of some club presidents, there were rumours that Jaramillo could stay until March 11, the date scheduled for the election of the new president at the ordinary assembly, but he kept his word and his term will end this Friday, February 28.

The president of the Colombian Football Federation, Ramón Jesurún , will take over the position on an interim basis due to a statute issue that dictates that the top leader of the FCF must occupy the position while a new president is being elected, as the statutes state in the absence of the top leader in Dimayor.

However, Jesurún will only be able to be in office for a maximum of 30 days, which is why the assembly on March 11 will be key to knowing the fate of Colombian professional football.

Carlos Mario Zuluaga, Jorge Iván Palacio, Mauricio Correa, Ramiro Ruiz and Jorge Armando Otálora are some of the names being considered to replace Fernando Jaramillo.
