Mexican forwards are at their best: Javier Aguirre

At the pre-Final Four event of the Concacaf Nations League, held at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, the technical director of the Mexican National Team, Javier Aguirre , shared his perspective on the current state of the Tricolor and the challenges it will face in the tournament that will take place from March 20 to 23 at the same venue.
Joined by coaches Jesse Marsch of Canada and Thomas Christiansen of Panama, as well as US Soccer Vice President of Sport Oguchi Onyewu and Concacaf General Secretary Philippe Moggio, Aguirre highlighted the growth of soccer in the region and the importance of this competition on the road to the 2026 World Cup.
The Mexican coach highlighted the good moment that players who play abroad are going through, assuring that there have never been so many national footballers with a leading role in their clubs. "As for players who are out of the country, it is probably the best time. Before we had cases like Borgetti or Palencia, but today there are many more and they have continuity in their teams," he pointed out.
Regarding the match against Canada in the semi-finals, Aguirre considered them to be a respectable rival who is in full development: "They are in the same situation as us, recovering the pride of representing their country. They have grown a lot and it will be a very good game." He also mentioned that Mexico 's objective is to stop the United States if they face them in the final: "We will try to fight them so they don't win the fourth, but first we have Canada in front of us."
The coach also spoke about Hirving "Chucky" Lozano, whom he recently visited: "I saw that he was receptive, eager to return to the national team. This is about feeling identified and regaining that desire. No one has their place guaranteed, but I will talk to him."
It is worth remembering that a preliminary list of 60 players was recently presented to Concacaf, which will be reduced to 23 before the tournament, leaving 37 players out of the final squad.
