Another crazy idea from Messi: Leones FC, his family's team, will play in the Primera C of Argentine football.

The Argentine Football Association (AFA) officially affiliated the club chaired by Matías, Lionel Messi's brother. They will play in the Primera C (fourth division) in 2026.

Founded in 2015, with a property located in the commune of Alvear (14 km south of the departmental capital Rosario) and chaired by Matías, older brother of the captain of the Argentine National Team , this young team was directly affiliated, as stated in Official Bulletin No. 6752.
This official recognition allows it to join the AFA tournament system directly, without going through the divisions for indirectly affiliated clubs , and therefore, to skip the Amateur Promotional Tournament , the lowest step where institutions usually start.

Although they will be competing in the Primera C in a few months alongside Central Córdoba and Argentino (R), two other local representatives, Leones is currently still fighting in Rosario's second division . They are currently leading the Relegation Zone and are already training under the orders of Víctor Zapata, who recently managed Atlas.
Chapa , with a past at River, Independiente and Vélez, recently took over and is already working together with the management of Matías Messi to assemble a competitive squad that will allow them to settle in and suffer as little as possible from the shock that the abrupt jump in category can cause.
