Samsung launches One UI 7 with Galaxy AI for a smoother and more personalized experience

Samsung began rolling out the One UI 7 update based on Android 15 on April 14, and it's now officially arriving on devices in Colombia. This new version incorporates artificial intelligence features powered by Galaxy AI, aiming to offer a more fluid, productive, and personalized user experience.
According to Daniel Viloria, Samsung's product manager, the update is now available for devices like the Galaxy S24 and S25, including the base, Plus, Ultra, and FE versions, as well as the Z Flip and Fold 6, and the Tab S10 tablets.
Highlights include a new audio draft for videos, voice memo transcription, a cross-app tool that lets you integrate multiple apps using voice prompts, and support for Google's Gemini, the most advanced version of which, Gemini Advance , is available exclusively to Galaxy S25 users for six months at no cost.
Among the main new features in One UI 7 , the lock screen has a new layout: swiping from the top right corner accesses quick settings, while the rest of the top bar opens notifications.
The home screen now supports 4x6 and 5x6 grids, automatically adapting to previous settings. Notifications are now organized chronologically rather than by priority, and Game Booster integrates its add-ons directly into the settings menu.
The Notes app allows for more efficient searches with up to ten recent tags and tag filtering. On the lock screen, the new Brief and Now Bar widgets replace the previous Face Widget.
The charging icon now displays the percentage in the top right corner of the home screen and a new indicator at the bottom of the lock screen. The global search no longer has a dedicated icon and must be opened from the quick panel.
Galaxy AI features are complemented by tools developed in conjunction with Google. Gemini Advance, exclusive for six months to S25 users, improves response speed, accuracy, and the ability to understand more complex tasks thanks to more advanced algorithms and greater processing power.
According to Viloria, this version is capable of holding more natural conversations, better interpreting user instructions, and accessing a broader database.
Another notable feature is the one that allows users to share their phone screen or activate the camera to receive contextual suggestions. For example, by showing a photo, the assistant can identify the location and suggest a travel plan, or by showing different items of clothing, it can offer matching recommendations. All of this happens without the need to install additional apps.
Samsung emphasizes that user privacy is guaranteed through Knox technology, which encrypts all information exchanged with artificial intelligence, preventing personal data from being exposed in the cloud. Users can customize their experience by choosing between Bixby or Gemini as their default assistant, both on phones and on the tablet keyboard.
Finally, the company recommends users manually check if the update is available on their device by going to Settings, then Software Update, and selecting Download and Install. It also suggests using the Samsung Members app to report any technical issues, ensuring that the collected data is anonymized to protect user privacy.
