Cartagena will be the epicenter of smart cities with Smart City Expo 2025.

Cartagena will host the 2025 edition of Smart City Expo on October 29 and 30, one of the most important meetings on smart cities worldwide.
The event will take place at the Hotel Las Américas Convention Center and will bring together representatives from the public, private, academic, and civil society sectors to exchange experiences and solutions aimed at sustainable and technological urban development.
The fair is organized by Fira Barcelona and Corferias, and is supported by the Mayor's Office of Cartagena de Indias. According to its organizers, the event will have a direct impact on the regional economy by attracting investment and promoting knowledge exchange on key topics such as digital transformation, mobility, urban infrastructure, sustainability, and citizen participation.

During the two days of activities, attendees will learn about advances in technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), big data, 5G networks, and renewable energy systems. Solutions for electric transportation, green buildings, connected public safety, and digital platforms for citizen participation will also be discussed.

Among the confirmed speakers are Alejandro Ambrad (Mentes a la Carta), Paula Andrea Palacio (AMVA), Andrea Piña (Chamber of Commerce of Cartagena), Fernando de Pablo (Madrid City Council), Pedro González (Government of Tenerife), Bernardo Baranda (ITDP Latin America) and Gerardo Neugovsen (BID).
The event's director, Santiago Murillo, emphasized that holding this fair in Cartagena reinforces its role as a city committed to digital transformation , thanks to the coordination between the local government, academia, and the business sector.
For his part, Mayor Dumek Turbay stated that the Smart City Expo is an opportunity to showcase Cartagena as a regional leader in the use of sustainable technologies. "This event reinforces our commitment to smart development and improving the quality of life of our residents," he stated.
The event will also serve as an educational platform, bringing citizens closer to the benefits of emerging technologies and strengthening the innovation ecosystem in the region.
