The PRO questioned the social costs of the adjustment despite supporting economic stability.

The economic equilibrium achieved in the last year and a half did not come without costs . This was stated by the Pensar Foundation , the PRO 's political analysis center, in a recent report where it acknowledged progress in terms of inflation and stability , but focused on the social consequences of the adjustment. Critically, the document noted that the deterioration of employment , income , and the lack of a national budget call into question the sustainability of the economic model.
The work was published 18 months after Javier Milei took office and is titled "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde," alluding to the two-faced nature of the current economic situation, according to the PRO. The foundation's president, María Eugenia Vidal, was responsible for signing the editorial for the document, which also includes contributions from leaders close to the party, such as Waldo Wolff, Mora Jozami, and Martín Maquieyra.

The report warns that while inflation was brought under control, this result was accompanied by a rise in unemployment , which reached 7.9% in the first quarter of the year. Added to this is a 42% informal employment rate and a sharp loss of purchasing power. Real wages fell 6%, and the report maintains that this figure rises to 12.6% if fixed costs such as transportation, utilities, and utilities are discounted.
"We're working more, but it's not enough for us," Vidal summarized in her analysis. For retirees, income has fallen by 4.7% since December 2023. Even among those who receive social benefits, such as the Universal Child Allowance, the report indicates a loss in real terms, despite the increases implemented.
According to the foundation, the adjustment hit the most vulnerable sectors and the activities that generate the most employment hardest. In particular, they noted that industry and construction were two of the hardest hit sectors.
Although the Pensar Foundation supported several of the laws promoted by the ruling party in Congress, its representatives warned that an emergency policy without clear rules cannot be sustained any longer. "It's been two years since a national budget was debated in Congress. This impedes planning, encourages improvisation, and creates conflicts of interest," Vidal questioned.
The PRO party is calling for a new era, one in which social recovery policies, tools to boost employment, and fiscal agreements that sustain macroeconomic achievements without neglecting social cohesion are discussed.
"The sacrifice was necessary to stabilize, but there are situations that cannot be prolonged," warned the president of Pensar. The message is clear: although political support continues, there is concern within the PRO about the social effects of the adjustment and the lack of a roadmap to reverse them.
