Legislative elections: The PRO party opened the door to an agreement with La Libertad Avanza in the City of Buenos Aires.

Following a national PRO summit, former president and party leader Mauricio Macri authorized his provincial leaders to freely negotiate electoral alliances ahead of the national legislative elections in October. In this context, the mayor of Buenos Aires , Jorge Macri , will seek to advance a coalition with La Libertad Avanza (LLA).
With the imminent closing of electoral registrations, Macri convened the PRO National Council on the morning of Thursday, August 31st, to review the party's situation, which has been relegated as a political force since its defeat in the 2023 presidential elections with the arrival of La Libertad Avanza. Registrations will close on August 7th; until then, the yellow party will seek to rebuild the Juntos por el Cambio alliance within Argentina's new political landscape.
Preempting his cousin, Jorge Macri reactivated channels of dialogue with the Libertarians in an attempt to consolidate the alliance he failed to achieve in the Buenos Aires elections, where Libertarian candidate Manuel Adorni prevailed. The mayor of Buenos Aires anticipates that in the national elections for the Province of Buenos Aires, Mauricio Macri could reach an agreement similar to the one established for the local elections.
Pilar Ramírez, president of the Libertarian bloc in the Buenos Aires Legislature and a confidant of Karina Milei, will represent LLA in the negotiations with the PRO. The Libertarian bloc told Ámbito that "a channel of communication has been opened" and that "the PRO interlocutor has been designated by Mauricio."
The Milei's discontent with Jorge Macri, which led to the alliance for the Buenos Aires elections not being finalized, is due to the hiring of Antoni González Rubí , an advisor who would have worked alongside Sergio Massa in an alleged "dirty campaign" in 2023. Because of this, Macri's supporters consider that an alliance would be " unlikely ", so they would study in parallel the reappearance of Together for Change.
