Gloria Reyes takes over as director of "Supérate Social Development"

Gloria Reyes was sworn in this Thursday as executive director of the new Supérate Social Development Directorate , in compliance with Decree 349-25, which formalizes the merger of the Supérate program and the Social Subsidy Administrator ( ADESS ).

The swearing-in ceremony was conducted by the Minister of Public Administration , Sigmund Freund, in an act that marked the first official merger under the State Efficiency and Rationalization Plan.

The new Superate Social Development Directorate will have operational autonomy and will be responsible for implementing poverty reduction policies , focusing on access to fundamental rights and strengthening the living conditions of vulnerable households.

Decree 356-25 establishes that this institution will manage programs such as Aliméntate , Bono Navideño , Bonoluz , Bonogás Hogar , Supérate Mujer , Cuidados y Acompañamiento Sociofamilia , all under the coordination of the Social Policy Cabinet and with an emphasis on comprehensive care and human development.

The minister highlighted the work of the ADESS and Súperate teams, as well as the MAP team, which made the proposed merger a reality.

"This has been possible to achieve in such a short time thanks, first of all, to the willingness of the incumbents of both ADESS and Supérate , as well as all the staff that accompanies them, and we at the Ministry of Public Administration must thank them for all this collaboration because it is definitely not easy to carry out an integration process of these two entities where there are so many particularities that are generated, in addition to day-to-day operations," said Freund.

After taking the oath of office, the newly appointed Director of Social Development Superate stated that the merger between the two institutions will allow for the improvement and continued strengthening of the Dominican State's Social Subsidy System.

"This team has performed an extraordinary job and served the country; I want to join in the congratulations and thanks on behalf of all the program's beneficiaries. For many years, the role played by ADESS was either a help or a hardship, and without a doubt, what this team has been doing has become a help because it has improved the service conditions for each of the beneficiaries," Reyes exclaimed.

• She stated that the integration between the two institutions has been carried out skillfully, as they were accustomed to carrying out multiple processes jointly.

"We worked together; the two institutions we joined were sisters. Now we'll join as one family , one institution... We're going to work because we have a lot of work ahead of us," Reyes added.

For his part, Catalino (Freddy) Correa Hiciano, who held the position of director of ADESS since January 2023 , took the opportunity to congratulate the entire team of technicians who accompanied him during his tenure at the head of that institution.

About the Supérate Social Development Directorate

The new directorate will be an entity with operational autonomy, responsible for implementing and managing national programs focused on poverty reduction through a comprehensive strategy that promotes access to fundamental rights and the continued strengthening of the living conditions of beneficiary households.

The strategic programs the entity will implement are: Food Support, Emergency Support, Home Support, Superate Mujer, Care and Socio-Family Support, with an emphasis on comprehensive care for vulnerable families and promoting human development.

The director of the entity will be responsible for directing policies, strategies, plans and programs , as well as supervising their execution and ensuring compliance with institutional functions.

Likewise, Reyes, as the designated director, is provisionally authorized to direct the operational coordination of the executing units that belonged to the dissolved entities in order to ensure that services continue to operate without interruption, as established by Decree 349-25 .
