Fernando Hakim, Miguel Uribe's neurosurgeon, reacts to the results of his latest surgery: "Big smile."

Senator Miguel Uribe Turbay completes 24 days in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Santa Fe Foundation Clinic in Bogotá this Tuesday, July 1st, following the attack on him on June 7th in the Modelia neighborhood of Bogotá. Despite his delicate condition, there are reasons for optimism, as expressed by his doctor, neurosurgeon Fernando Hakim Daccach.
According to the older sister of the presidential candidate, María Carolina Hoyos Turbay, the latest surgery the 39-year-old politician underwent was a success, as demonstrated by Dr. Hakim.

Speaking to Blu Radio , Hoyos described the moment the neurosurgeon left the operating room and met with the Democratic Center congressman's family to discuss the results of the surgery.
"It went super well. Plus, Dr. Hakim's face said it all. His ear-to-ear grin, well, that says it all," Hoyos said.
Dr. Hakim is the head of the Neurosurgery Department at the Santa Fe Foundation in Bogotá and is one of the most renowned physicians in this field in Colombia and around the world.

Hoyos stated that the medical progress of his brother, who was hit by two bullets to the head and one to the leg, has been "absolutely miraculous."
" Miguel is a warrior for life. Four or five days ago, you were recording my brother's last operation, and that operation would have been performed on a patient with the same condition in three months. My brother is having it performed 20 days after the attack. In other words, he has made miraculous progress," Hoyos told the aforementioned outlet.

Hoyos said he is optimistic about his brother's progress. "He's a strong man, a fighter, and he's demonstrated that every day since he entered that operating room. This has been a daily battle. (...) Miguel has an enviable ability to bounce back, a resilience, that strength that keeps him alive," he commented.
This is how Miguel Uribe Turbay's condition is evolving. After 24 days at the Santa Fe Foundation Clinic in Bogotá, Senator Miguel Uribe Turbay remains in critical condition.
