Deputies debated political violence against Cristina Kirchner, detained journalists, and activists.

Representative Mónica Macha , president of the Women and Diversity Commission, called a meeting this Tuesday in the lower house to discuss bills related to political violence , judicial persecution , and attacks on journalists . The meeting will address, among other topics, the situation of Cristina Kirchner , accused of being the victim of a systematic campaign of judicial and media harassment.

Among those confirmed to attend are Julia Mengolini , Nancy Pazos , María O'Donnell , and former Supreme Court Justice Raúl Zaffaroni , as well as law doctor Marisa Herrera and sociologist Luci Cavallero . Also attending will be relatives of Alesia Abaigar , an activist detained after a rally outside the home of Congressman José Luis Espert .

Four key points will be addressed during the meeting: the alleged proscription of Cristina Fernández de Kirchner , political persecution , attacks on the critical press , and the role of social organizations.

In addition to legislators from the Union for the Homeland, representatives from the Left Front and the participation of Representative Esteban Paulón , from the Federal Encounter party, are expected. He is promoting a bill to condemn the homophobic attacks he has received due to his sexual orientation.

One of the spotlights will be on the case of Alesia Abaigar , arrested for vandalizing Espert's home. Macha believes her pretrial detention is "arbitrary" and a decision "driven by her political identity." The congresswoman is demanding her immediate release, arguing that her transfer to the Federal Penitentiary Service was carried out in record time, without respecting normal court deadlines.

Macha is also promoting another project that denounces a digital campaign against Julia Mengolini , allegedly driven by sectors linked to the ruling party. "Thousands of troll accounts, paid bots, and Javier Milei himself spread fake news with images manipulated by artificial intelligence to destroy her image," he explained.

According to the text presented, the President retweeted more than 80 posts on the X network containing offensive content against the journalist. Macha believes that these types of campaigns "violate freedom of expression and seek to discipline dissenting voices."

“Congress must clearly reject these personal attacks, symbolic violence , and hate speech,” she stated. “What's at stake is not just the integrity of a journalist, but the ability to express dissent in a democracy.”
