Delio Trujillo, in Inzá, and Óscar Calvo, in Chitaraque, were elected mayors in new atypical elections.

In a completely calm election day, the municipalities of Inzá (Cauca) and Chitaraque (Boyacá) elected Delio Hernán Trujillo (Mais) and Óscar Calvo (Unidos Hacemos Más), respectively, as their new mayors this Sunday.
In Inzá, where 58 polling stations were set up, the new president obtained 5,011 votes, while Reinaldo Peña obtained 4,698. In total, 9,962 people out of the 19,276 eligible to vote went to the polls.
In this Cauca municipality, the elections were atypical because the Council of State upheld the dismissal of Gelmis Rivera for having engaged in dual membership—he supported a candidate for governor other than the one from his party, the Mais.

In Chitaraque, Calvo was elected after obtaining 2,101 votes, surpassing Luis Francisco Daza, who obtained 1,781. In this Boyacá town, located in the province of Ricaurte and near Santander, three polling stations (one urban and two rural) were set up, comprising 16 tables. The Registry confirmed that there were 3,938 voters in total, representing 67.4 percent of the total.
“The atypical election day in Chitaraque concludes peacefully. We thank all the authorities for their commitment to security during these elections, as well as the citizens, who respected the differences. This democratic day has concluded without any disruption to public order,” said Carlos Amaya, Governor of Boyacá.
Calvo will replace Carlos Alberto Amador Ramos, whose death came after a heart attack in March of this year, preventing him from completing his third term as mayor of Chitaraque.

"The election days proceeded normally, and the residents of these two municipalities went to the polls in complete peace. The Civil Registry continues to organize the electoral process with full guarantees for all," stated Hernán Penagos, the national registrar of civil status.
The official also highlighted the implementation of biometric authentication in the Chitaraque elections as a tool to validate voters' full identity and prevent identity theft.
