Mexican storm and monsoon will continue to bring heavy and intense rains between Friday and Monday.

MEXICO CITY (apro).- Cyclone Erick is losing strength, but the rainy season will continue over the weekend, the National Meteorological Service (SMN) warned.
The rainfall, which will range from heavy to torrential, will be reinforced by the Mexican monsoon, detailed the National Water Commission (Conagua) in its forecast for June 20-23.
Tropical Cyclone Erick will continue to weaken Thursday night and early Friday morning as it moves over the state of Guerrero. However, its circulation will maintain the likelihood of torrential rains in Guerrero and Oaxaca, as well as heavy rains in Puebla, Chiapas, and Veracruz, along with winds of 40 to 50 km/h (25 to 31 mph) with gusts of 60 to 80 km/h (37 to 50 mph) and waves of 1.5 to 2.5 meters (5 to 8 feet) high along the coasts of these states. These winds will continue to gradually decrease.
Meanwhile, low-pressure channels over the Northern Mesa, the Central Mesa, northwest and eastern Mexico, interacting with atmospheric instability and the influx of moisture from the Pacific Ocean, Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea, will cause intense rainfall in Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosí, Querétaro and Hidalgo.
Very heavy rainfall in Nayarit, Nuevo León, Guanajuato, the State of Mexico, Tabasco, Campeche, and Quintana Roo; heavy rain in Sinaloa, Durango, Zacatecas (south), Morelos, Tlaxcala, and Yucatán; and showers in Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Aguascalientes, and Mexico City.
All rainfall will be accompanied by lightning. Heavy, very heavy, intense, and torrential rains could cause rising river and stream levels, landslides, ponding, and flooding in low-lying areas.
