A massive march from the State of Mexico to Mexico City has been announced in response to the kidnapping of a transport worker.

MEXICO CITY (apro) – Following highway blockades by agricultural producers protesting low prices for their products, members of the Alliance of Independent Truckers of the Mexican Republic (AAA) will hold a “mega-march” this Monday, November 3, departing from various highways in the State of Mexico, to protest the disappearance of Fernando Galindo, one of their colleagues, who was allegedly kidnapped 72 hours ago by groups that extort truckers.
“We demand the immediate intervention of all three levels of government—federal, state, and municipal—to locate him alive and guarantee the safety of all transport workers who travel the country's highways daily,” the association stated in its call for the march.

According to the “Triple-A”, the demonstrations will start from various points in the State of Mexico, including Jilotepec, Atlacomulco, Lerma, Santiago Tianguistengo, Valle de Bravo, Toluca, Naucalpan, Cuautitlán Izcalli, Coyotepec and Tepotzotlán, and will converge towards the capital's Zócalo.
“Stop the extortion and kidnappings in the State of Mexico,” urged the organization, which asserted that “we can no longer continue to be victims of impunity.”
