Jalisco Health Department confirms new measles case at private high school in Zapopan

This Thursday, the Jalisco Health Secretariat (SSJ) confirmed a measles outbreak at a high school in the state's private education system.
This is the Preparatory School of the University of the Valley of Atemajac (Univa), which reported that the infection, the only one confirmed so far by the SSJ , occurred in a student, which is why in-person classes were suspended throughout the school, thus migrating to virtual learning.
"Following the guidelines of the health authorities, and with the aim of protecting the health and safety of our entire educational community, we have decided to suspend in-person activities from this moment until November 10th. During this period, both classes and communications will continue through our institutional channels online. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with this preventative measure," the institution stated in a press release.
He added that any further information will be communicated in due course through official Univa channels.

Thus, the State Health Secretariat reported, there are 12 schools that maintain the suspension of in-person classes , including this private high school.
Of these 12, in 10 only one group was sent to virtual classes, while in the cases of the Tlaquepaque school previously notified, and in the Univa High School, the entire school was sent to virtual classes.
Seven groups in Arandas have already returned to in-person classes.
Finally, the SSJ reminded everyone that schools where the suspension of in-person classes has been determined must remain isolated for a period of 14 days.
According to the most recent report from the state health department, there were 136 confirmed cases of measles in the state , in addition to another 698 identified as "probable cases." With this latest confirmed case, the total number of infections in the state would reach 137, pending the results of the remaining suspected cases.
