Trump definitively created a new global order of trade and investment.

On August 8, the new US-led global power system based on trade and investment began, encompassing 170 countries and deliberately created by Donald Trump .
The guiding principle of this extraordinary construction is the need to reverse the enormous US trade and current account deficit, which amounts to US$1.6 trillion this year and is one of the fundamental causes of the basic imbalance in the global economy.
The two crucial parameters guiding the Trump administration are: a) the magnitude of the trade deficit with the United States among countries around the world; and b) the need for U.S. exports to open these countries' markets with zero tariffs .
The linchpin of the new global order is the United States, in its dual role as the unrestricted axis of contemporary capitalism , which aspires to transform its current predominance into full hegemony over the system as a whole through its superior productivity.
The US economic data sufficiently reveals Trump's success in fully implementing this strategy: after contracting 0.5% in the first quarter of the year, the US expanded 3% between April and June, 1 percentage point above the most optimistic forecasts; and it did so with annual inflation of 2.7% , which represents a drop of half a percentage point compared to the 3.4% increase experienced in the previous quarter.
All of this occurred through a systematic reduction of the fiscal deficit practiced by Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent that would take it from 6.4% of GDP in 2024 to 3% in 2028. At the same time, the revenue from the new tariffs imposed by the Trump administration , which are the highest in history since the 1930s (17.8%), would reach more than US$ 300 billion in 2025 , entirely destined to pay off the US$ 37 trillion public debt in advance and thus begin to reduce it.
The remarkable thing is that this policy of super-high tariffs, instead of increasing inflation , has reduced it and instead of limiting international trade, it has multiplied it .
The key to this puzzle lies in two central issues: a) foreign exporters preferred to assume virtually the entire cost of the new tariffs , rather than risk losing ground in the world's largest consumer market; and b) all of this has been accompanied by extraordinary deregulation that has unleashed the passion for investment and innovation ( animal spirits ) characteristic of North American civilization, with cost reductions at all levels and in all sectors, especially fuel.
The core of this new global order is the strategic alliance with China , which has resulted in the virtually unrestricted transfer of the most advanced artificial intelligence technology.
Significantly, Brazil has become the US's main adversary in this new global order due to the de-dollarization policy launched by President Lula within the BRICS group, as Donald Trump claims that the search for an alternative currency to the US dollar affects the "vital interests" of his superpower status.
The true indicator of the new system's success is the tremendous investment boom currently underway in the U.S., which can be estimated at US$6.5 trillion upon approval of the 2025 Budget.
The key is to understand the strategic direction of this massive investment from around the world, more than 80% of which is allocated to the development and consolidation of the productive and energy infrastructure for artificial intelligence , the decisive technology of the 21st century.
The main instrument channeling this exceptional investment wave is revealed by the genuine "euphoria" experienced by Wall Street over the past three months, where all indicators without exception have climbed to record levels, including the S&P 500 and Nasdaq, which have reached their highest levels in the history of the US stock markets.
It must always be emphasized that more than 90% of American investment is in intangible assets (patents, brands, corporate reorganization, ongoing staff training) —knowledge, in short . This is the deepest key to American capitalism's extraordinary potential.
Investment in the US reached US$4.7 trillion in 2024, double the combined investment of Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and Japan, and is expected to double or more this year. All of this is realized in intangible capital, which is a reward for innovation and creativity . This is the raison d'être and the basic explanation for the genius of American capitalism, today focused on fully mastering the artificial intelligence cycle.
The most important thing to note is that Trump has unleashed this authentic passion for innovation and investment—the animal spirits —that are at the very heart of the country of the frontier and the eternal dawn, in the words of Alexis de Tocqueville.
This is what is at stake in the US and around the world in this crucial year of 2025.
