The principle of sovereignty is not negotiable: Claudia Sheinbaum

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum reiterated this Friday that she is committed to continuing negotiations with the United States regarding their bilateral relationship on various issues, primarily trade and security.
During her visit to Chiapas, where she attended the construction supervision of the IMSS General Hospital Zone No. 13 in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, the federal leader insisted that her government has "very clear principles" regarding international negotiations and also emphasized "that the principle of the well-being of the Mexican people is not negotiable either."
The federal leader's statements come amid growing pressure from U.S. President Donald Trump, who last weekend threatened to impose 30% tariffs on Mexican imports starting August 1.
It's worth remembering that following Trump's announcement of the new tariff measures, Economy Secretary Marcelo Ebrard explained that negotiations had already been held with his largest trading partner regarding these new tariffs.
Trump said he would consider lowering tariffs if Mexico does more to combat drug cartels, which are trying to turn "all of North America into a playground for drug trafficking."
This week, during the signing of the " HALT Fentanyl Act ," passed by Republicans and Democrats as part of the fight against fentanyl trafficking, the U.S. president asserted that drug cartels "have a very strong hold on Mexico."
President Sheinbaum described her counterpart's statements as inaccurate, asserted that Mexico has taken firm action against drug trafficking, and emphasized that her administration is not like previous governments that, she said, allowed organized crime to infiltrate security institutions.
They are preparing the inauguration of General Hospital No. 13At the start of her working tour of the southeast, Sheinbaum announced that General Hospital No. 13 , in Tuxtla, Chiapas, will be inaugurated on September 14 and stated that in about two and a half years all the hospitals that Chiapas needs will be ready.
In the presence of Zoé Robledo, director of the Mexican Social Security Institute, Sheinbaum announced that the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS-Bienestar) in Chiapas will receive an additional 2.4 billion pesos to serve the population without social security.
