The Ministry of Economy is shrinking: Milei closed the Secretariat of Industry and Commerce and the Secretariat of SMEs.

President Javier Milei closed the Secretariat of Industry and Commerce and the Secretariat of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) , and their functions will be transferred to the Ministry of Economy , headed by Luis Caputo . In this way, the president's chainsaw continues to shrink the state, as officials in these areas will return to work in the private sector.
"The functions of the Secretariat of Industry and Commerce and the Secretariat for SMEs, Entrepreneurs, and the Knowledge Economy will be absorbed by the Secretariat for Production Coordination of the Ministry of Economy," stated an official statement from the Ministry of Finance shared by NA.
The statement adds that "while the process of streamlining the structure continues in order to make its operations more efficient, the Undersecretariats will remain in place, reporting to the Coordinating Secretary, Pablo Lavigne. Within this framework, the Secretariat teams will continue working, and the programs will remain in place," the statement stated.
According to the ministry, the fourteenth of this month will be the last day in office for the Secretary of Industry and Commerce, Esteban Marzorati , and the Secretary of SMEs, Entrepreneurship, and the Knowledge Economy, Marcos Ayerra . "Both decided to leave their positions due to personal issues and new professional challenges," the ministry clarified.
Following this news, Economy Minister Luis Caputo shared a photo with Marcos Ayerra and Esteban Marzorati, whom he described as two "professional giants" and added, "We will miss them." In turn, Marzorati quoted the tweet and responded to the Minister of Finance.
"Next Wednesday is my last day as Secretary of Industry and Commerce. I am very grateful to President @JMilei for appointing me, even without knowing me, trusting in the judgment of @LuisCaputoAR and @PALavigne83. For me, it is an honor to feel that I served the country. I had the fortune of working with a purpose, that of helping the State make things easier for those who do business . I especially thank my friend @PALavigne83, with whom we have a long history of working for the same values. I also thank my teammates. I leave with the knowledge that together we managed to be part of something close, that unites us and will continue to unite us over time," he wrote.
A huge thank you to these two professional and personal giants, Marcos Ayerra and @emarzoratiok ! We're going to miss them!! pic.twitter.com/OZjsFtA9r3
