Extremadura boosts its internationalization with a new Master's Degree in International Trade

The Minister of Economy, Employment, and Digital Transformation, Guillermo Santamaría, highlighted the high employability and responsiveness of the new Master's Degree in International Trade. This is an official and professional qualification promoted by the Regional Government of Extremadura, through the SEXPE (Spanish Ministry of Education) and Extremadura Avante, the University of Extremadura, and the Badajoz Chamber of Commerce.

The minister emphasized that "Extremaduran companies are not only exporting more, but their numbers are increasing. In the last year, the number of exporting companies has grown by 3.7% , demonstrating that internationalization is no longer an option, but a necessity to compete and grow."

This master's degree was designed with the participation of key institutions such as Avante, SEXPE (Spanish Ministry of Education), the Chamber of Commerce, and the Faculty of Economics and Business, thus ensuring training aligned with the demands of the labor market. Its professional focus is reflected in a mixed faculty composed of university professors and industry professionals, as well as the inclusion of guaranteed internships in companies with international operations.

In a globalized context, international trade becomes a strategic necessity for Extremadura . "This master's degree responds to the growing demand for professionals specialized in foreign trade, essential for companies embarking on internationalization, diversifying markets or products, or participating in large industrial projects," said Santamaría.

María Guardiola's government strongly supports business internationalization through initiatives such as the "Cheque Exporta" (Export Check), which offers personalized advice to facilitate entry into new markets . Furthermore, the 2024-2027 International Expansion Plan for the Extremaduran Economy, with a budget of €21.7 million, reinforces this commitment, in collaboration with the Chambers of Commerce.

In 2024, Extremadura's exports reached €3.33 billion , reflecting the entrepreneurial effort and professionalization of the sector. Training programs like this master's degree have extremely high employability rates, close to 100%, as demonstrated by the FORMACOEX program.

For the first time, Extremadura also has an Investment Attraction Plan 2024-2027 , which is already bearing fruit with the arrival of large projects such as MERLIN Properties, Hunan Yuneng, TURN2X, Zijing and Nostrum Evergreen, which will generate thousands of jobs and require qualified personnel in foreign trade.

This master's degree, approved by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, represents a firm step toward developing talent with a global vision . The Regional Government of Extremadura reaffirms its commitment to the economic development and internationalization of our companies. "We invite young graduates and professionals to take advantage of this unique opportunity. Extremadura needs its talent to compete globally," Santamaría concluded.
