Immersed in the process of correcting after-sales errors, Chirey launches its second super hybrid vehicle in Mexico, the Tiggo 7 PHVE CSH , to show off its technological muscle in electric batteries with greater autonomy, which it claims is its bet to reverse the decline in sales, said Svein Azcué, Vice President of Operations at Chirey Motor Mexico.
“(At the Chirey Group , which includes Omoda and Jaecco), we're relaunching our entire new product range (vehicles). We've already launched five, two of them super hybrids. So, we're seeing an increase in sales volume,” the executive told El Economista .
Without mentioning sales volume, Azcué asserted that the brand has already "shown month-over-month growth for the last three months. I hope this trend continues through the end of the year, especially based on having happy customers," he explained.
Chirey is recovering and soon projects that sales will approach the average monthly sales he achieved when he arrived in Mexico during his first year, hovering around 4,000 units per month.
The Chinese brand is facing its Achilles' heel: customer service, which included vehicle collisions and delivery delays, but Chirey "is obsessive, remedial, and focused on those customers we left in the workshop last year," for which he relies on tools like Flying Doctor (area technical assistance) to personally assist and repair errors.
Although Chirey's sales fell by more than 34% in 2024, the group is already addressing the shortage of spare parts and customer service, investing more than 220 million pesos to increase its spare parts inventory, seeking to ensure a better supply.
He also highlighted that the automaker, considered China's largest exporter, has vehicles that are more volume-driven: "A Tiggo 2 (the smallest vehicle in the family) is playing a leading role in volume. I also have vehicles that provide great profitability and satisfaction to customers and my dealers with the Tiggo 7 Super Hybrid, Jaecco 7 Super Hybrid, Tigo 8, and the following launches arriving in the next three months. So, the brand is getting stronger, but more importantly, solid in customer service, which is what I want."
Highlighting the advantages of the Tiggo 7 super plug-in hybrid, which offers a combined range of 1,200 kilometers between combustion and electrification.
The Chinese brand's new engine offers twice the electrification power, increases the range from 50 to 100 kilometers in electric mode, and has improved battery collision resistance. It will therefore demonstrate its success in Europe and now do so in the Mexican market, competing in a growing segment.
Svein Azcué conveyed a message that Chirey will remain present in Mexico to address past mistakes. Therefore, it has a department dedicated to collision-related vehicles to ensure reduced downtime in workshops, faster delivery of spare parts, and technical assistance.
"For difficult-to-resolve cases, we have a program called Flying Doctor, which is in English; we're going to give it a better name in Mexico. I fly my brand technicians to see if there's a difficult repair, and the brand can personally attend to it. So, all of this is to reduce turnaround time," he explained.
