Aragón-Teruel Existe calls for settling accounts with the emptied Spain before prioritizing the unique financing of Catalonia.

In addition to the Government of Aragon , other parties in the Aragonese community are joining in the rejection of the special funding for Catalonia announced today by the central government and the Generalitat. From the Aragón-Teruel Existe parliamentary group, spokesperson Tomás Guitarte criticized this model of "privileged funding" for favoring the "richest territories" and going " against the principles of equality and solidarity ."
Guitarte argued that, first, " accounts must be settled with the emptied Spain ," thus demanding that "accounts be settled first with the historical deficits with the territories of emptied Spain," which is the true challenge facing the country.
The MP criticized the idea that "we are being forced to swallow the idea that the progressive thing to do now is to defend a singular system, which goes against the principles of equality and solidarity. These are policies that only benefit the richest , those who need it least."
Along these lines, he denounced the fact that the increased "political clout" is being used to " blackmail the State ." This is neither progressive nor socialist; it's pure and simple blackmail, which the nationalists don't even bother to hide.
In this regard, he insisted that "the first thing that should be done to talk about an equitable system is to settle the debts owed to the territories of forgotten Spain that have been sacrificed since the middle of the last century."
Guitarte recalled the Solidarity Financing Plan , presented a year ago by this party along with other groups from the "empty Spain," which contemplated allocating 2% of GDP each year for 30 years to correct the historical deficit in investment and infrastructure in these territories.
"As long as these regions don't have the necessary infrastructure, they will never be able to compete on a level playing field to attract new economic activities that will allow them to develop. They will fall further and further behind and will be increasingly disadvantaged," he stressed.
A situation in which he has called for "a state agreement " to define the desired model of country, beyond individual agreements between the state and a specific autonomous community.
"More than the chosen financing system," he noted, "what matters to us is the economic quantification that results from it , since whatever it is, it must guarantee priority attention to the territories that have been left behind in development."
