AmCham questioned the appointment of judges by decree and said Argentina needs "predictability and legal certainty"

The American Chamber of Commerce in Argentina ( AmCham ) questioned on Wednesday the decision of Javier Milei's government to appoint two judges to the Supreme Court by decree and noted that this could "overshadow the efforts" of the libertarian administration in the economy and "affect the country's predictability."
In a statement entitled " Institutionality and legal security: keys to competitiveness ," the chamber highlighted that "in the last 13 months, the Government has promoted significant progress through the stabilization of monetary and fiscal policy, achieving the reduction of inflation and the deregulation of the economy, seeking to promote genuine growth in the country, attracting investments, generating quality jobs, mitigating poverty levels and positioning Argentina as a leader in economic freedom in the region."
"However, measures such as the extraordinary and temporary appointment of judges to the Supreme Court may overshadow these efforts and affect the predictability that the country needs to consolidate its growth," the chamber warned.
