Alcampo appoints Carlos Pedreira as its new CEO to lead its transformation process.

Alcampo begins a new era with the appointment of Carlos Pedreira Freire as CEO. He succeeds Américo Ribeiro , who, after six years with the group, will take on new roles as a board member in various countries where Auchan Retail operates and as president of Zenalco , the international fruit and vegetable purchasing center.
Pedreira faces the challenge of consolidating the company's ongoing transformation by reinforcing investment in future projects, developing a multi-format and omnichannel model, and providing a more agile, personalized, and sustainable shopping experience. His work will focus on further aligning Alcampo's value proposition with changing consumer habits, combining physical and digital spaces adapted to current needs and with a clear commitment to sustainability.
At 48 years old, Pedreira has an extensive international career. He holds a law degree from the University of A Coruña, with postgraduate training in business management and international law studies at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne . Before joining Alcampo in 2021, he developed his career at Kiabi , where he held various management positions in France and Hong Kong, and later at Auchan Retail International , where he was legal and tax director. At Alcampo, he led key areas such as Finance, Assets, and Digital Proximity, in addition to coordinating strategic projects in e-commerce, franchising, and mergers and acquisitions.
For his part, Ribeiro is culminating an extensive career in food retail. After starting out at the Pão de Açúcar Group, he joined Auchan in 1996, where he held top-level responsibilities: he was general manager of Auchan Portugal for a decade, later led Auchan Italy, and, since 2020, has led Alcampo in Spain.
With this change, the company seeks to strengthen its position in an increasingly competitive and digitalized sector , relying on Pedreira's leadership to drive a strategy focused on customer service, innovation, and sustainable development.
