The National Tax and Customs Directorate (DIAN) announced this Tuesday, July 29, that it will hold a new round of its customary public auctions in early August, seeking to generate resources for the nation, as part of a strategy that has become popular in recent years.
According to a recent statement, between Monday, August 4th and Wednesday, August 6th, the Dian will make available to the public a series of assets that have been seized, confiscated, or declared abandoned in favor of the Nation, such as jewelry, precious metals, industrial machinery, and furniture that were seized in different cities across the country as a result of control operations carried out by the entity.

The auction will be held entirely virtually through Banco Popular's El Martillo platform, opening at 8:00 a.m. on Monday the 4th and closing at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday the 6th. Participation will be free of charge and requires no assistance from third parties outside the bank.
" Those interested in participating must register in advance on the website www.elmartillo.com.co, where they can also view the complete catalog of available goods and learn about the specific conditions for participation," said the Dian.

The tax department emphasized that this process will have all the guarantees of legality, transparency, and institutional support, in partnership with Banco Popular, and indicated that "this is an open opportunity for citizens to access valuable assets with all the guarantees, and in turn, contribute to the efficient management of the nation's assets."
New care systemIn other news, since July 23, the DIAN (National Tax Administration) implemented a new video service in Bogotá that allows taxpayers to submit refund and/or manual compensation requests remotely, securely, and in a personalized manner. This service option seeks to optimize the user experience, reduce travel times, and ensure proper processing of procedures.

The new channel is exclusive to the nation's capital and completely replaces the old electronic mailbox for receiving documents for these types of requests. Therefore, from now on, the entire process is centralized on the scheduling and virtual support platform enabled by the Dian.
Interested citizens can visit www.dian.gov.co, select "Appointment Scheduling," then "Video Assistance," and finally, choose the refund procedure. On that same site, they must upload the required documents for the application, which will be reviewed during the appointment with a specialized official.

The entity clarified that filing does not automatically entail approval of the application. It is the responsibility of the substantiating official to verify that all formal requirements are met for the process to proceed.
"With this initiative, we aim to offer more personalized and efficient service, aligned with our commitment to simplification and continuous improvement of services. We continue to strengthen technological tools to make taxpayers' lives easier and promote a culture of compliance," the institution stated.

The DIAN concluded by stating that these types of actions aim to strengthen its institutional management, both by promoting the effective recovery of assets for the State and by promoting digital transformation in taxpayer service. "Both initiatives reflect the entity's commitment to efficiency, transparency, and the modernization of its processes," they concluded. DANIEL HERNÁNDEZ NARANJO
