Tourist recklessly tries to get close to an elephant to take a selfie.

On August 11, a tourist, identified as R. Basavaraju, was attacked by an elephant in southern India after trying to get close enough to take a picture of both of them.
The news was shared by some users on social media, where they claim that the situation with the mammal occurred during a guided tour of a nearby temple.

According to information disseminated on digital platforms and local media, the animal appeared next to the road to eat some carrots that had fallen to the ground minutes before the incident.
Witnesses reported that the man was inside a car waiting for traffic to move. However, when he noticed the elephant, he decided to get out of the vehicle.
Although the mammal seemed quite calm at first, a few seconds later, the unexpected approach of the tourist with the mobile device in his hand provoked an aggressive reaction from the animal.
In the recording circulating on platforms such as X or TikTok, it can be seen that the elephant, after feeling threatened, began to chase R. Basavaraju, who, due to the fright, tripped and fell to the ground.
