The Olympic team goes crazy for Aitana

It was her first stadium concert, and that of thousands of girls and boys who gathered yesterday at Montjuïc to experience for the first time what it feels like at a mega-concert. The same thing happened to Aitana on stage, united with her audience by an experience that many music lovers won't understand (some will outright disapprove), although that doesn't matter to those who witnessed the Catalan singer's consecration last night, as she made the leap from OT to the big leagues.
“Barcelona! Where is this? Now we are!” greeted Aitana, emerging from below the stage to the cheers of her fans, who chanted “February 6” until the last syllable, beginning a journey through the artist's still brief musical career, which she took on as a personal challenge. Four albums and seven years of career, Aitana faced accompanied by four musicians, two backing vocalists, and the dedication of a young audience that filled the stadium.
Around twenty dancers occupied the enormous stage for the start –still during daylight– starring Aitana's first hits, such as Teléfono, Popcorn and Lo malo , reggaeton with which she became known when she was still in the Operación Triunfo academy and for which yesterday she had the collaboration of Ana Guerra. It was the beginning of this musical journey through the pop-rock of Spoiler and 11 reasons , the disco electronics of Alpha and the mix of emotions and fun that the artist wanted to trace in Cuarto azul, stitched together last night with the butterfly as a metaphor for change.
'Boig per tu' with Pep Sala and 'La gent que estimo' with Josep Montero added Catalan to the concert. All of these bands performed last night at the Olímpic, packed with young people—including many parents—during the nearly three-hour concert. Aitana became the second local artist after Estopa—the first female—to perform at the Lluís Companys. This was a new milestone in this era of mega-concerts, while a band from another generation, El Último de la Fila, is preparing to perform twice next year.
Aitana's success was also doubly impressive, making up for the cancellation of the two concerts announced for December at the Santiago Bernabéu. Plan B (in Barcelona) worked with a technical display worthy of major international tours, designed to be enjoyed from the giant screens that occupied the entire rear of the stage, with camera shots following the star throughout the elevated space, which included a second butterfly-shaped platform.
There was no shortage of the obligatory glow-in-the-dark bracelets at the Sant Climent de Llobregat artist's private party, which offered heartfelt nods to the Barcelona audience, from the pre-party featuring Julieta to the appearances of Josep Montero to perform " La gent que estimo " by Oques Grasses, which brought a tear to Aitana's eye, and the Barça cat, who came out to dance in the final moments of the concert. Although what was surprising was seeing Pep Sala take the stage while "Boig per tu" was playing, which last night was a love song for Aitana sung by 50,000 people. These were two of the several musical metamorphoses of the show, which, like few others, turned into a collective karaoke, regardless of which of the thirty songs was played, whether it was the romantic " Con la miel en los labios" or the recently released "Segundo tentación" .
Pop, rock and electronic music played throughout the biographical tour of the artist's four albums. The transformations included several musical tributes, with rock moments that included snippets of Queen or Avril Lavigne during the transition through Razones , where + (More) turned the stadium into a sea of lights that jumped in unison to the cheerful rhythm of Mon amour surrounded by all the dancers.
At the other extreme, she faced Duele un mucho decirme de ti completely alone, without even a band, as a prelude to the part dedicated to Alpha , dominated by electronic sounds, and which started to the rhythm of Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! by Abba. And the provocative dancing could not be missed – yesterday controversial, today anecdotal – while Miamor played, the Olímpic was filled with strobe lights and What is love was mixed with the disco rhythm of 2 extraños.
Mariposas, Formentera , and Las Babys were the final gifts of this evening for everyone, which concluded in the Cuarto Azul (Blue Room) on the last album. From there, Aitana said she was tired of being The Perfect Girl and "feeling like she belongs to everyone," legitimate desires but contradictory to last night's precise concert, which from now on will belong to thousands and thousands of people.
