According to several scientific studies, ultrasonic rat repellent devices are highly recommended for combating invasions. Rodent ultrasonic devices emit high-frequency sound waves, inaudible to humans but uncomfortable for rodents, to repel rats and prevent them from entering or remaining in a specific area.

Although some laboratory experiments have shown that certain ultrasonic sounds can affect rodent behavior, most research indicates that these commercial devices do not offer a reliable solution for pest control in real-life settings.

A University of Arizona study found that rats and mice showed a mild initial aversion to ultrasonic sound, but this reaction diminished over time, especially if a food source was nearby. This phenomenon, known as habituation, suggests that rodents can quickly adapt to these sounds, reducing their effectiveness as a control method.

On the other hand, the Office for Science and Society at McGill University points out that, while some high-quality devices can alter certain behaviors in laboratory animals , consumer-available products do not replicate these effects due to limitations in generating complex sound patterns.

In this context, despite the idea of ​​using ultrasonic devices, experts recommend traditional pest control methods, such as sealing entrances, eliminating food sources, and using traps, to achieve more effective and sustainable results. What are some of the diseases that rats can transmit?

1- Leptospirosis is caused by the bacteria Leptospira, which is found in the rodent's urine. This condition can occur during periods of constant rain.

2- Hantavirus is present in rat feces and even saliva and urine. This disease produces two clinical forms considered highly serious: Hemorrhagic Fever with Renal Syndrome in Asia and Europe, and Hantavirus Cardiopulmonary Syndrome in the Americas.

3- Finally, salmonellosis can be present in rodents that are contaminated with the Salmonella sp. bacteria.
