Actor Cesc Queral, known for his role in 'La Vicenteta', has died.

The actor, playwright, director, and teacher Cesc Queral, known for creating the popular character of La Vicenteta on the TV3 program Tres pics i repicó , died this Friday, according to a press release today. The aforementioned character became a humorous and cultural icon in the late 1980s and early 1990s, when thousands of viewers awaited his appearance every Thursday. The character helped normalize the use of Catalan at local festivals and popular venues, being seen not as a disguise, but as the real Aunt Vicenteta.

In 1977, Cesc Queralt founded the Barcelona School of Actors, which he has directed to this day and which will now bear his name. From this center, he has trained several generations of actors and actresses, combining his teaching work with writing more than 30 plays and directing numerous shows. His last professional activity was in February 2025, when he directed a microtheater production.

Her stage career is broad and diverse. She worked at iconic theaters such as El Molino, Arnau, and El Grec, participating in shows ranging from texts by Maria Aurèlia Capmany to cabaret shows alongside actresses such as Amparo Moreno, with whom she maintained a long and close friendship, and the late Merche Mar.
