Two years in prison for a man who cut the face of a young man who was defending his friend and then urinated on him

Zaragoza - CET
A two-year prison sentence has been handed down in the Criminal Court number 6 of Zaragoza for a farcical incident that actually began as a gesture of defence for a friend. The trial took place this week and sentenced two men in their thirties who broke into a house in the historic centre of the Aragonese capital and ended up attacking one of its inhabitants, a 27-year-old man whom they wounded in the face with a box cutter and then urinated on. The incident took place three years ago, but it was not until Monday that one of the accused could be brought to court, because the other one fled and has been declared in rebellion.
“My client was at home, sharing a flat with her friend, there was a knock on the door and thinking it was him, she opened the door and was attacked by a group of individuals.” This is how lawyer Luis Ángel Marcén describes how the events began, in the early hours of March 20, 2022, when armed with various sharp objects, a group of individuals broke into this house on Boggiero Street, in the heart of the Gancho neighborhood of Zaragoza, ready to start a fight for a reason that has not been clarified.
The 21-year-old girl ended up beaten and stunned, lying on the bed, but things did not go any further thanks to the intervention of her roommate, who was able to stop the attack when he arrived home. This young man defended his friend, but it did not come to nothing. He ended up being attacked by this group who inflicted wounds and cuts on his face with a box cutter and ended up urinating on him.
The National Police Force of Zaragoza arrested three individuals for this crime, one of them a minor. The prosecution requested up to four years in prison for each of the adults and fines exceeding 700 euros, but finally the defense reached an agreement. In the end, "two years in prison for serious injuries and payment of civil liability amounting to 4,200 euros, as well as a minor fine for a minor offense," confirmed the lawyer, while concluding that it is not expected that any of them will end up behind bars.
