Torreón strengthens preventive measures in anticipation of rain this weekend.

Municipal agencies are already implementing preventive measures against rain contingencies, in response to the National Water Commission's forecasts for rainfall in the region over the weekend.
Civil Protection Director Jorge Luis Juárez Llanas reported that the Municipal Rain Response Plan coordinates actions involving various municipal government departments.
The goal is to ensure the continuous flow of rainwater and prevent potential flooding, he announced.
Following the instructions of Mayor Román Alberto Cepeda, the work has been carried out continuously since the beginning of the year. However, during this month they have been reinforced weekly as part of the strategy for the rainy season.
Preventive work includes cleaning storm drains, storm drains, and catchment wells, among other things.
Work is being carried out throughout the municipality, with the western sector being the most intensively affected, as this is an area where water flows toward the regulation lagoon. Specifically, work is also being done on the eastern and southern sectors of the city, which historically experience the greatest impact from rainfall.
The director stated that the cleanup and dredging efforts were concentrated yesterday on Francisco Sarabia Boulevard, the Giro Independencia neighborhood, and the Victoria neighborhood.
He also urged citizens to cooperate by not littering in public spaces and respecting garbage collection schedules, as waste carried by water and wind often clogs sewers, causing puddles or flooding.
On the other hand, he recommended that the public check and clean the drainage channels on their roofs, since accumulated water can cause leaks, dampness, and structural damage to homes.
Personnel from the Public Works Department and La Ola Municipal Public Services, as well as Simas Torreón and the Comprehensive Road Maintenance System (SIMV), also participate in the coordination of Rain Response.
