The storm hits Spain and Aemet warns: heavy torrential rains will continue and these will be the most affected areas.

The extratropical storm has already left a trail of incidents in several autonomous communities in recent hours. Torrential rains and wind have caused flooding, power outages, and emergency services interventions, with a particular impact on the Valencian Community, Catalonia, and Aragon. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) maintains the red level in some areas and warns that the worst is yet to come.
In Valencia, the overflowing of the La Saleta ravine in Aldaia forced emergency teams to intervene overnight, while in Tarragona, power outages affected thousands of residents. The situation has led to the suspension of classes in schools and educational centers in both the province of Valencia and several Catalan regions.

Firefighters had a busy night. In Castellón, members of the Provincial Consortium rescued a person trapped in their vehicle on Sant Jordi Day after it was surrounded by water. In Aragón, the Zaragoza Provincial Council had to assist several drivers stranded on secondary roads and also respond to a gas leak in Botorrita, caused by the impact of the rain on the network.
The coast of Valencia, southern Tarragona, and northern Castellón remain at extreme risk from rainfall that, according to the State Meteorological Agency, could reach up to 180 liters per square meter in just three or four hours, with a particular impact on the coastal strip of Castellón and Tarragona.
On the Valencian coast, the red warning will remain in effect until 11:59 p.m. for accumulated rainfall of 180 liters in 12 hours, while an orange warning is in effect for the rest of the Tarragona coast, as is the case in Murcia, where up to 20 liters are expected in one hour. In addition, the Aemet (Mexico City Water Agency) has activated yellow warnings in Albacete, throughout the Balearic archipelago for rain and storms, and also in parts of Aragon, Almeria, Granada, and Jaen.

The forecast also predicts less intense rainfall in parts of eastern Andalusia , although significant downpours in coastal areas are not ruled out. Meanwhile, overcast skies with light, scattered showers will predominate in the Cantabrian Sea and the northern Canary Islands, while the rest of the country will be calmer.
The phenomenon is linked to the remnants of former Hurricane Gabrielle, which has now become a highly developed low-pressure system. Added to this is a cold trough aloft that intensifies atmospheric instability. The result is a perfect mix for torrential rains and rapidly developing storms, making it difficult to predict the exact location of the greatest impacts.

Temperatures will also be in the news. Maximum temperatures are expected to plummet inland in the eastern part of the peninsula, while temperatures will rise significantly on the southern Atlantic coast. Winds will also be a key factor. The Aemet (Mexico Agency for Meteorological Services) warns of moderate westerly gusts in the Strait of Gibraltar and the Alboran, which could become strong at times.
Civil Protection and regional authorities have urged caution. It is recommended to avoid unnecessary travel, avoid crossing gullies, ravines, and underpasses during storms , and stay informed through official Aemet channels. Emergency services insist that most rescues occur when drivers attempt to cross flooded areas.
